Beginner Micrography with Mrs. Lauren Liebert

Micrography is the art of drawing beautiful pictures constructed out of words. It can be simple or complex, and it’s flexible, adaptable, and fun to do. This class will cover basic concepts: shapes, font sizes, positive space vs negative space, and more.

Students will need to have 4 texts ready to work with in English or Hebrew: 2 one-paragraph long texts (can be poetry, song lyrics, prose) and 2 long-form texts at least 5 paragraphs long.

Scrapbooking with Breindy Dreyfuss

Turn your favorite photos into pages that tell your story! Over this 6-week course, you’ll learn the art of scrapbooking. From choosing colors to adding titles, journaling and embellishments...you'll create eye-catching layouts that make your pages come to life! Whether you’re brand new to scrapbooking or already love getting creative with your photos, you’ll build your skills week by week while creating beautiful pages filled with memories you’ll treasure.

The Basics
• Approximately 30 printed photos — choose pictures and memories you’d enjoy scrapbooking!

Advanced Drawing: Lighting & Perspective with Shaindy Ginsberg

A skill-building course for students who already have basic drawing experience and want more challenging work. We will focus on advanced lighting and perspective: observing how light creates form, understanding reflected color, constructing believable space, and using viewpoint for dramatic effect.

Supplies:
-9x12” or larger drawing paper or sketchbook
-A desk lamp, clip lamp, or strong flashlight that can be aimed from one direction (useful for perspective)
-Graphite pencils: HB/No. 2 plus one softer pencil such as 2B or 4B
-One or two white/light neutral objects: mug, ball, bottle, box, crumpled white paper, small sculpture, etc.
-Eraser; kneaded eraser optional but helpful for lifting highlights
-Bright colored paper, cardstock, fabric, or folders to act as reflective surfaces
-Clear ruler, 12-18”. (18” is helpful for larger perspective drawings)
-Tape or reusable putty to keep paper and objects from shifting
-Basic colored pencils for the reflected-light/color lesson
-A few simple boxes/books/containers to use as perspective reference objects if desired
-Black fineliner or thin marker (optional)

Creative Writing: Character Building with Rachel Gitter

Are your characters giving you trouble? Have you always wanted to write a lifelike character, but just don’t know how? This class is for you! We’ll use various techniques, questionnaires, and exercises to help your characters spring off the page and into life. (I take no responsibility for what they do after class!)

Looking for a dedicated group of writers to critique your work with? In this class, we’ll learn the basics of giving and taking constructive criticism and take turns workshopping each other’s pieces. Come prepared to both give and receive opinions–we won’t get to everyone each week, but you’ll all have a chance to share at some point.

How to Color with Different Media for Beginners with Sarah Chaya Mako

In this class, you will learn how to color with different media, such as alcohol markers, acrylic markers, crayons, chalk pastels, and colored pencils. You will also learn how to incorporate multiple media into your drawings, and have a better understanding of color theory and the color wheel!  

Supplies:
-Mixed media paper
-Crayola crayons
-Acrylic markers
-Alcohol markers
-Crayola colored pencils
-Chalk pastels
-At least one pencil

*Please note your supplies do not need to be the highest quality nor do you need an abundance of each one; a pack of 20-30 markers is a great amount, and they don’t need to be expensive.

Intermediate Acting - Grades 10–12 (mature 9th graders welcome) with Tamar Garnick

Explore the craft of acting through character development, monologue and scene study, and performance. Students will be introduced to foundational techniques from Stanislavsky, Strasberg, Meisner, Adler, and Hagen, along with exercises designed to deepen self-awareness, connection, and authentic expression.

Through working and performing together, students will build confidence, creativity, and the skills to bring depth and truth to their characters and performances.

Fantasy Writing 101–The Beginner’s Guide to Thrilling Tales and Epic Adventures  with Yaelle Shira Weisz

Fantasy has been around for as long as storytelling has. But how does one go about writing a truly compelling tale with a magic system that actually works? How does one craft characters who are memorable and enjoyable alike? How does one write a plot worthy of any fire-breathing dragon? Look no further! This class will show you how to navigate the rocky landscape that is fantastical literature. From crafting a magic system that works like science to creating a world unlike any you’ve seen before, you’ll learn the best way to redeem the unlikeliest of villains, craft time-travel stories that make sense, and so much more.

Learn and play festive Chanukah songs on the violin while building your skills and having fun along the way.

For violinists with at least 6 months’ experience and/or violinists who took Mrs.Gitter’s Beginner Violin elective at camp.

Reading music is NOT required for this class (but more advanced players can also be accommodated!)

Tizmoret Beyond offers classes for girls in 5th-12th grades as well as separate classes for women.

Absolutely! Tizmoret has always been a place where girls of different ages learn and create together. Our girls’ classes are open to grades 5–12, and many are designed specifically to work well as multi-age classrooms. Instructors tailor their approach so that younger and older students can each be appropriately challenged, supported, and inspired.

Some classes may have specific age parameters - if so, they will be listed in the class description.

Yes! Classes are taught live online, giving students the opportunity to learn directly from their instructors, ask questions, participate, and connect with other Tizmoret students.

Come learn, create, connect and grow with like-minded friends in a friendly, welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere - hey, that sounds a lot like camp!

All classes take place online. You can join from wherever you are!

All you need is a device (preferably a tablet or computer, but phones work too!), a good internet connection, and any supplies needed for your class. IF you need any supplies, they will be listed in the class description.

Costs vary from ~$25 for a one-time workshop to up to $200 for an eight week session.

Once we have processed your registration, your card will be charged for the session(s) you signed up for.

Some classes require specific supplies or materials. You'll find a complete supply list in the description of each class. Be sure to check the list before your first session!

Supply lists will also be emailed to each participant ahead of time.

If you miss a class, you may request the recording for that week. If it’s available (ie. the technology gremlins didn’t eat it!), we will send it to you.

Due to the nature of this program, we are unable to offer make-up classes.

No! Tizmoret Beyond is open to anyone who meets the requirements for a particular class. You don't have to be a current or former Tizmoret camper to join the fun.
